The Truth About Skirts for Little Girls

The Truth About Skirts for Little Girls

Skirts can be a tricky thing to buy and use for your little girls no matter what their age. However, that tricky transitional period (about the age range of 5-9) can be even worse. Skirts can be a wonderful way to help your little lady feel and look feminine and cute for any occasion, but knowing when and how to transition from skorts to skirts (if at all) can be tough. There are a few things you can do to decide if your girly is ready, and how to choose appropriate pieces either way.

Ready
If your daughter can sit with her legs crossed or knees pressed together no matter where she is or how comfortable she feels (like around family, etc), she may be ready for regular skirts. To get her started, give her skirts that come at least to the knees at first as a trial period. This way even if she doesn’t sit properly nothing can show easily, at least. The longer she keeps her ladylike habits, the shorter her skirts can be (up to the appropriate length for her age and body, of course).

Not Ready
Girls who have trouble ever keeping their legs together, or those whose legs tend to spread or cross Indian style when they get in a comfortable seat or environment should probably stick with skorts for a while longer. Choose skorts that have tight-ish leg holes for a snug fit that doesn’t show panties through the edges. Alternatively, give your daughter a pair of short short, tight shorts to wear under a regular skirt as she goes through a trial period.

Girls with Sparkles, How to Use Them With Class

Let’s face it, when you have a girl, sparkles are EVERYWHERE. They’re in hairbows, tops, pants, skirts, skorts, shorts, leggings, shoes, socks, accessories – everywhere! The trouble is decided how much sparkle is too much for your little girl, and how much is just right, as well as what types of sparkles lend themselves better to long-term wear. With a few girls fashion tips on the huge topic of sparkle, you too can dress your child with the right amount.

Sparkles

First of all, recognizing which types of sparkles are okay to buy can be the best thing you can do for your little one’s fashion sense. Before you begin to buy anything with sparkles, try running a finger up and down the product. If your finger is covered in sparkles (a few bits are normal), chances are it’s not worth the mess it’ll cause to buy it. If nothing comes off at first, rub a little more vigorously, especially if it is an article of clothing and not an accessory, to ensure nothing will come off in the wash.

After choosing which sparkles to buy, you have to know how much to put on your lady and how much to cut back. You won’t want everything in sparkles on your child. Try a very sparkly headband and shoes with a plain-Jane outfit to give it a touch of pretty sparkles. Alternatively, wearing lots of sparkles on her outfit can be complimented by solid colors (think patent or very matte) in her accessories and shoes.
