There are fashion trends in footwear that were very popular in the past decades that keep coming back year in and year out. Their tenacity and persistence are due mainly to its versatility and practicality.

Fashionable Footwear for Girls

Platform boots and shoes
The secret of platform boots’ and shoes’ staying power is the comfort it affords the wearer. It has been around since the entry of this century, and was at its height in the 70s. It still is very much around because of its practicality. Compared to stiletto heels, platform boots and shoes provide the needed height but are more comfortable to walk in.

Ankle boots
Ankle boots are high fashion items in the 1960s and since then have not lost its appeal to women mainly because it is easy to wear for women of all calf sizes. It is great footwear to wear with jeans and trousers, getting that height and look of full-length boots without going all the way.

Patent leather shoes
Patent leather shoes was invented in the early 1800s and have been a hot item in the 1920s, the so called Jazz Age, back again with a vengeance in the swinging 60s but has never really been out of the scene. The high-gloss finish of patent leather gives any outfit an instant impressive appeal. It is real classic footwear that can withstand the time particularly when in neutral colors such as black, tan, red or blush wine.

Wedges
It was Salvatore Ferragamo who introduced wedges made out of wine bottle corks to the fashion world in the 1930s. Since then, women of all ages, from all walks of life from all over the world have favored wedges. Wedges provide the height with a lot more comfort and ease compared to typical high heels. Wedges are great for the summer.  Photos Copyright of PR PHOTOS

Choosing Shoes For Your Little Girl

Choosing Shoes For Your Little Girl

One tricky part of the whole dressing business when it comes to little girls is choosing shoes. After all, we’ve all had the experience of picking out a pair of shoes for her only to find out that they weren’t comfortable and she almost always started crying when you made her wear them. Maybe she had to trudge around in the shoe for hours on end. Either way, you’ve got to fix that. So, what’s a concerned parent to do?

First of all, make sure the shoes fit. They should be snug with toe room. If they are in any way cramming her toes or heel or whatever, try the next size up. If that is too loose or having the same effect, then you want to look into another pair of shoes.

Secondly, have her walk around in the shoes a little bit. Don’t make her walk five feet and turn around and come back. Have her walk the full length of the isle. Ask her to walk in a circle. Also ask her to sit down in the shoes (there’s always that odd pair that digs into your feet when you sit down. This is true of everyone.). Even have her walk around in zigzags. If she experiences no discomfort, by all means, buy the shoes.

Lastly, buy appropriate socks. If the shoes are casual, buy casual socks. If they’re dress shoes, choose dressier socks (unless of course you already have them at home.).

Casual and Dressy Shoes for Little Girls

Casual and Dressy Shoes for Little Girls

If you have a few kids with a large age gap, chances are you remember buying shoes for your eldest girl that looked like loafers for boys, flip flops for the little man of the family, and dress shoes for mini-old men. Shoes for girls have come a long way, however, and you don’t have to put the same spectacles on your youngest girlie as you did your eldest. The trick is choosing shoes to fit the occasion. There are two general subcategories – casual and dressy.

Casual
Casual shoes for girls can range anywhere from little sandals and flip flops to pretty little footsie slippers. Of course you’ll be hard-pressed to find girl shoes without flowers/cute animals/girly colors on them, but casual shoes usually are made from plastic, foamy materials, or soft fabric materials for comfort and more running around/playing. Casual shoes, because they are made more flimsy and for playing, are usually priced much cheaper, but need not be any less cute.

Dressy
Though dressy shoes are distinctly dressy, the truth is that the only difference between casual and dressy shoes for the most part for little girls is that of the material they are made from. Footsie slippers, once made of cloth for a casual feel, can be made from patent leather in bright colors for a dressy look. Sandals can be made from leather or a sturdier material to dress up any occasion. These shoes are of course a little more expensive than casual shoes, but they are worth every penny because of their sturdy materials and long-lasting abilities.

Choosing a Pair of Dress Shoes for a Little Girl 2010, 2011

Choosing a Pair of Dress Shoes for a Little Girl, Fall, Winter 2011

When choosing a pair of shoes for your little one, you may be looking at how the shoes look. But the fact of the matter is, how they look is nothing compared to your little one’s comfort. After all, if they aren’t comfortable, chances are that they won’t actually wear the shoes or will throw a hissy fit having to put them on. Wouldn’t you grumble if you had to put on really uncomfortable shoes you couldn’t play in? Here are a few tips for picking something that’s comfortable.

If you’re choosing hard shoes (or even cloth shoes), look at the material inside at first, especially on the back of the heels. Is it soft? Really, really hard? Look at the heels again, after determining what the inside feels like. If the backs are shaped like Vs, then you may want to look into another pair, especially if they’re really hard. Alternatively, you could use a small soup can or something of that nature to shape and round out the backs. V-shaped backs normally result in blisters, whether you’re wearing socks or not. For a little one’s tender feet, this can mean hours of pain.

Then there’s also the toes. If the toes slope down too far in the front, this can mean smushed toes and the little one will be sliding their feet back and potentially causing more blisters.

Make sure that the shoes are big enough, but not too big. The “they’ll grow” into them excuse just doesn’t work when it comes to shoes. Shoes need to be the right size, no matter what. Too big or too small shoes can affect their walking as well.

Choosing Comfortable But Stylish Clothing For Your Little Girl 2010 & 2011 Tips

Choosing Comfortable But Stylish Clothing For Your Little Girl

It doesn’t matter if you have tons of money or none at all. One thing that is important when dressing a little girl is making sure that she looks neat and well-groomed. This is easily achievable, but there’s also the issue of making sure that she is comfortable. After all, if a little one isn’t comfortable, that generally leads to her to being uncomfortable and just not wanting to wear the cursed clothes anymore. So here are a few tips for keeping your little one comfy and cute.

1. Dresses. When buying dresses, make sure that the collar isn’t way too high. This can be uncomfortable for your little girls. If you notice her tugging at her collar or keeping her head a certain way to avoid touching the collar, then you may want to think about adjusting the neckline. This doesn’t mean that it has to be really lowcut—just enough to give her neck some clearance.

2. Skirts. Skirts need to be loose, so that little ones can run. Try and keep them about knee length, or only halfway down the calf. This allows them to run freely and not trip or anything else of that sort that could lead to booboos and accidents.

3. Shoes. Shoes need to be comfortable and fit right. Small heels are alright, but make sure that they are really small and nothing that will cause her to trip. If she’s under three, heels aren’t recommended at all. Make sure to have sock ready, just in case a pair of shoes that may have seemed to be able to be worn with naked feet end up being the kind that absolutely need socks.
