Leather Skirts for Spring 2012

One of the most welcomed fashion trend for 2012 is the leather skirt. Leather skirt is back, and how! The leather skirt for spring 2012 is more tailored and has well-defined detailing like metal hoops or contrast stitching that are real attention –getter. It is a very easy to wear outfit and it shapes itself to the wearer’s body.

A classic leather skirt is the kind of leather skirt that will last you almost a lifetime. What makes it classic is its basic cut, which is a traditional pencil skirt as well as the color and type of leather. It is typically black and made of soft leather.

Leather skirts come in all kinds of length – miniskirts, knee-length skirts, or full- length skirts. The choice of length is dependent on your own personal preference. Leather miniskirts are great for casual wear and perfect paired with tight shirts and sweaters. It also looked good worn with patterned tights. Longer leather skirts are best for formal occasions.

Leather skirts also come in different style – with audacious slits either at the back or on the sides, a high-waist leather skirt, an A-line leather skirt, a leather skirt with an elastic waist band or leather skirts with zipper in front. Any leather skirt style will surely add dazzle and glitz.
In selecting the length and style of a leather skirt, be sure to take into consideration your body size and needs. Just as any miniskirt or micro mini is best worn by women 25 years old and under, so is a leather miniskirt.

Avoid pairing a leather skirt with another leather clothing item such as a leather jacket. It is best worn with a clothing item with a contrasting texture such as a slinky silk halter top, ribbed sweater, cashmere or cotton knit top with a scoop neck or a simple white blouse. Women Fashion and Styling Tips at Work

Women Fashion and Styling Tips at Work

Dressing up for work does not mean not having a personal fashion style. Women do not have to look like clones just because they all need to project a professional look. Fashion can still be part of the daily professional wardrobe but it should be refined elegance rather than brash and bold, leave the brash and bold to play time. Your fashion style at work should project that competent, professional image without necessarily sacrificing style and flair. The way you dress for work could be one of the determining factors in your rise up the corporate ladder.

The general rule for professional dressing is clothes, jewelries or accessories that are too attention-grabbing should not be worn at the office. This includes low-necked tops, too short or too tight skirts, and sequined or elaborately embellished clothes. Remember, you are headed for work not to a disco or bar.

An important aspect of a professional wardrobe is color. The time-honored colors for the office are black that screams chic, conservative gray, the reliable navy and red for the more aggressive. These are the predominant colors for suits, skirts, shoes and bags. Personal style comes in with the choice of colors and designs for the top. Turtle neck shirts or blouses with cowl neck, ruffles on the collar and front in solid colors or subdued prints will add glamour and pizzazz to a rather staid and sober suit, or A-line skirt or dress pants.

Colors for blouses are where you can also express your own individual fashion sense even in the workplace. Word of caution though, too bold or too loud colors maybe too distracting and might give the impression that you don’t want to be taken seriously. The palest pastel shade is perfect in achieving a vintage look and for a subtle sexy air particularly when in a sleek silky material. Earth tones such as orange, copper, ochres, green, white and red in shiny or matte surface are 2011 trendy colors that will enliven your work clothes. Photo Copyright of PR PHOTOS

The Problems with Dress Up Makeup Kits

The Problems with Dress Up Makeup Kits

We’ve all seen a dress up makeup kit. They’re cute. You see all sorts of pretty colors and reds and blues and greens and pinks. Most of the time, when playing with them, your daughter’s first reaction is to use what is brightest and boldest. It’s natural. It’s bright, and pretty and therefore looks really, really attractive. If the color happens to be her favorite, that will only make matters a bit worse. However, there does come a time when you have to sit back and look at what exactly you are handing your little girl. What might seem like harmless makeup may turn into a big deal later on or even the next day. Here are some of the problems with play makeup kits.

1. Colors. These kits have some of the most ridiculous colors. In fact, given the right complexion, you could recreate a Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland Red Queen look with some of the colors. For a little girl just playing around, she may not realize that the makeup is just for play and she may try to play with darker colors.

2. Daily use. Another thing is this: if your child watches you using makeup on a daily basis, they may be under the impression that since you use your makeup on a daily basis, they can use theirs on this basis. Unfortunately, this can lead to many a funny look and face scrub for your daughter. Not to mention the disappointment.

There’s nothing wrong with these kits themselves. It’s the fact that they need to be explained. For example, you could have an alternative kit with neutral colors in case she wants to wear the makeup out of the house (assuming she is of a decent age.). This also allows her to see what’s for play and what’s for practical use.

Dressing Modestly, Where to Draw the Line

Dressing Modestly, Where to Draw the Line

Dressing your daughter can be quite a task at times. For older girls, it can be as well. This article discusses where the line ought to be drawn and where to leave it at when it comes to keeping things modest and neat.

1. Shirts. When staying modest, you need to watch out for shirts especially. Shirts should be opaque, unless you have an undershirt. The undershirt needs to be opaque as well. Necklines don’t have to be literally up to your neck, but they also shouldn’t be plunging either. Most of the time this is ridiculous looking or just inappropriate. Make sure that they are not way too tight either.

2. Pants. Pants should not be completely and utterly tight. They should be loose enough that if needed you can stick both your hand and your cell phone into your pocket. This is an indicator of whether or not you have enough room. You also should be able to walk, breathe, etc. (Seriously. This is not meant in a joking manner.)

3. Shoes. Shoes generally don’t have problems with modesty, but you should be careful to make sure that you can walk in them. If the shoes are so high up that if you get a forward motion going that you’ll fall if you try to stop, then you may want to look into something a lot shorter. Remember also not to wear these kind of shoes on a daily. The result can damage a young girls feet. (Since they’re still growing.)

Choosing a Functional Hoodie for Any Outfit

Choosing a Functional Hoodie for Any Outfit

Choosing a hoodie that is comfortable and nice looking can be difficult. Sometimes you need a bit of a point of reference. In these cases, your best bet is to sit back and think.

First of all, do you get cold easily? For girls that do, you don’t want a hoodie that is really tight. You want something just a little bit roomier so that when you wear it the warm air can get trapped and it will keep you warmer throughout the day. This rule also extends to comfort hoodies (for example, if you are one of those people who absolutely does not feel comfortable unless you’re wearing a hoodie).

Secondly, do you usually store your things in your pockets or a purse? If it’s your purse, then you probably don’t need a hoodie with pockets. If you do store your things in your pockets, your best bet is to get a hoodie with pockets. Then if you happen to wear a pair of jeans without pockets or a dress, you can easily shove your junk into a hoodie pocket and voila! You’re covered.

The style of hood is also optional. Some people prefer a roomier hood. Others don’t need one. Then there are also little fashion hoodies that have ears on the hoods. If you’re looking for something a bit more cutesy, then you could buy a fashion hoodie. If your ears get cold quickly, you could look into the roomier hoods. It’s all based on what you need and when you need it.

Fashion Mistakes 2010, 2011

Fashion Mistakes 2010, 2011

Sometimes it’s hard to determine what you should wear. However, there are a few things that you definitely should not do, not matter what the style is.

1. Don’t wear plaid and stripes. This looks absolutely ridiculous. You have shapes and stripes. It doesn’t make any sense, looks ridiculous, and honestly, who wants that kind of a look? It’s best to stick to one pattern and in moderation.

2. Dress with your size in mind. If you are a bit heavier, then don’t wear spandex. Tights are okay, but don’t wear spandex, even if you’re being paid a million dollars. Also, if you can’t fit into the jeans without having a muffin top as the result, the jeans need to go. If you happen to have a tube top from when you were a teen and you are an older woman, please give it to your teen instead.

3. Dressing up and down at the same time. If you have on a cute, formal little skirt, wear something other than a teeshirt. It can be a nice tank top or blouse, but make sure it’s anything but a teeshirt. It looks rather tacky and is just best left alone. Also, if you’re dressed up everywhere else, don’t wear tennis shoes. It looks almost as tacky as the teeshirt.

4. Holey clothes. Holey clothes aren’t even appropriate for church (pun intended). Patch them up, unless they are intended to look that way. Even if they are, make sure that they are not in places such as the upper thigh, chest area, butt area, or anything else that shouldn’t be shown to the public (or even the private).

Cute, Not Adult, The Fine Line of Dressing Your Little Girl, 2010 & 2011 Tips

Cute, Not Adult – The Fine Line of Dressing Your Little Girl

When it comes to dressing your young girl or pre-teen daughter/loved one, it can be difficult to shop for clothing. This isn’t because you can’t find sizes that fit, however, or that your girlie doesn’t like the colors her shoes came in, but because it can be very hard to find clothing and fashion for girls that doesn’t look like it belongs on a grown woman! When it comes to dressing her, there is hope, however. A few simple rules and tricks can help you out.

Measure…
Measure your young lady from the waist to the knee, or to the length of shorts/skirts/skorts that you think are appropriate for her age, height and body build – and make sure to write them down! Do the same for sleeve lengths and necklines as well. When you go out shopping, use these measurements and a tape measure to make sure you’re buying clothing off the rack that is appropriate instead of waiting to find out when you get home.

Shop Around!
There is no cardinal rule of girls’ fashion that says you have to shop at your local mall, which is build, created, and advertising directed at teenage women, to buy clothing for your little lady. If you can’t find what you need there, try shopping at lesser known department or consignment stores (hint: consignment shops usual have older, ie more appropriate, girls clothes) for more appropriate pieces. Or, hit the internet! You may even find an online store that allows you to choose the skirt length, etc.

Choosing Comfortable But Stylish Clothing For Your Little Girl 2010 & 2011 Tips

Choosing Comfortable But Stylish Clothing For Your Little Girl

It doesn’t matter if you have tons of money or none at all. One thing that is important when dressing a little girl is making sure that she looks neat and well-groomed. This is easily achievable, but there’s also the issue of making sure that she is comfortable. After all, if a little one isn’t comfortable, that generally leads to her to being uncomfortable and just not wanting to wear the cursed clothes anymore. So here are a few tips for keeping your little one comfy and cute.

1. Dresses. When buying dresses, make sure that the collar isn’t way too high. This can be uncomfortable for your little girls. If you notice her tugging at her collar or keeping her head a certain way to avoid touching the collar, then you may want to think about adjusting the neckline. This doesn’t mean that it has to be really lowcut—just enough to give her neck some clearance.

2. Skirts. Skirts need to be loose, so that little ones can run. Try and keep them about knee length, or only halfway down the calf. This allows them to run freely and not trip or anything else of that sort that could lead to booboos and accidents.

3. Shoes. Shoes need to be comfortable and fit right. Small heels are alright, but make sure that they are really small and nothing that will cause her to trip. If she’s under three, heels aren’t recommended at all. Make sure to have sock ready, just in case a pair of shoes that may have seemed to be able to be worn with naked feet end up being the kind that absolutely need socks.

Picking Out the Perfect Dress for Your Body Type, 2010 & 2011 Tips

Picking Out the Perfect Dress for Your Body Type

It doesn’t matter if you’re skinny as a toothpick or a little bit heavier, there is a perfect dress for every girl and she can find it with just a little bit of effort.

If you have a big butt and you can not lie, then one thing that you may be trying to accentuate is your bust. You can do so by picking a dress that is a v-neck that comes up right underneath the breasts and has patterned fabric to bring attention to that area. Frills and ruffles on the sides also accentuate and make things look a little bit more even.

If your bust is your main area of concentration, then you want something that is plain at the top, but more intricate around the hips. If there is a small belt or the skirt of the dress is a different color than the top, then this will work perfectly. You can also take a separate belt of a contrasting color and sling it around your hips to make them a bit of a focal point.

If you’re tall, skinny, and rather flat in all areas, then you want something that accentuates not only your bust, but also your hips. This can be achieved with something fitted at the waist, and at the top, but with a loose, flowing skirt. This will show that you have a bust and hips, and give the illusion of curves. No extra padding required!

If you are a bit of a heavier girl, you aren’t left out by any means, and you certainly don’t have to give up style just because you weigh a little bit more than anyone else.

Pretty much, you need a dress similar to that of a tall and extremely skinny girl, but try to stick to big, bold patterns that aren’t defined. No little flowers and junk. You want something big, bold, but not bright. You want something with muted colors but a lot of them. You can also pair it with a cute little cardigan (white and black always look pretty with a bright dress) and a pair of ballet flats to give it a little bit of extra flair.
